Equally at home as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral performer, and recording artist, she has built a multifaceted career that bridges the concert stage, recording studio, and classroom.
01 — ON STAGE
Orchestra, soloist, chamber
Julia has performed with distinguished ensembles including the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, and the New York Classical Players. She also performed in the orchestra for The Phantom of the Opera, Broadway’s longest-running musical.
As a soloist, Julia has appeared with orchestras including the Moscow Chamber Orchestra and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, performing concertos by Haydn, Elgar, and Dvořák. An avid chamber musician and recitalist, she has performed extensively throughout the United States and Japan, appearing at venues including Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara, and Kanack Hall in Yokohama.
As a recording artist, Julia has contributed to numerous major motion picture soundtracks, including The Girl on the Train, Noah, Collateral Beauty, and A Dog’s Purpose, as well as a variety of independent film projects.
In 2026, she released her debut album, Palette of Sound, a collection of works that showcases her lyrical artistry and passion for expressive storytelling through music.
She is currently recording the Aomori-Kang Trio’s debut Christmas album, Home for Christmas, scheduled for release in 2026.
Julia earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Stony Brook University, her Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, and her Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She is the recipient of the Irene Diamond Graduate Fellowship and the Samuel Mayes Memorial Cello Award.
Alongside her performing career, Julia is a dedicated educator. She serves on the cello faculty at Opus Colorado College of Music and maintains a private cello studio in Teaneck, New Jersey, where she teaches students of all ages and levels. She also offers online lessons to students throughout the United States and internationally. Her teaching emphasizes a strong technical foundation, artistic curiosity, and helping each student discover their own unique musical voice.
04 — ENSEMBLE
Aomori-Kang Trio
Julia is also a founding member of the Aomori-Kang Trio (AK Trio), a family ensemble featuring her husband, composer and multi-instrumentalist Tomoya Aomori, and their son, Kento. Through innovative arrangements and engaging performances, the trio shares a love of music with audiences of all ages, bringing together classical tradition, creativity, and family connection. The ensemble is currently recording its debut Christmas album, featuring original arrangements of beloved holiday classics, with a release planned for the upcoming holiday season.
